Todays  Health Article

Todays article may be just what you have been asking yourself, but you were afraid to ask, or you have been asked by someone and bluntally told them ” Do not ASK”.  Are we so difficult to change? Why people do not Change! Is there any hope  to Change as we are closing in on another year, can there be change in the year 2011. Since this is a Health site, we most likely talk about changes applying to ones health, but the facts actually could apply to changing any aspect of your life.

The facts are many quotes have been laid to rest on shoulders from our family and friends. A couple of these may be familiar: “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks”, or “God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know it’s me.”  ~Author Unknown. With that being said this article is for those who want to consider changing their lives, and the rest will follow when they recognize their time  has come. Like myself. I seemed to be so independent at times and seeking what is important in my life, not being a crowd follower, that change always comes with some discomfort and rewards.

 Why don’t People Change 

*Perhaps you want to change , but maybe not, deep down its a change laid upon you by your parents, spouse, friends or social peers. These can have little meaning, no inner drive, they may not be you, so you stop working on them, and you can just endure the nagging….RIGHT!

*Does Change take Courage? Yes. I think changes  sometimes takes enormous amounts of courage. We must draw from within ourselves to take steps outside the box, some might say, this can a little scary for some, facing their own fears in the face. I believe if we draw upon our past accomplishments, its easier to believe you can do anything if you put your mind to it. You must keep doing the thing you think you cannot do. My  favorite line to  myself was being consistent at being persistent towards my change.

*You don’t know how to change, health habits can be hard to change, perhaps needing a mentor, family or friend who have gone through the same thing, If seek counseling by a professional and can gather questions and answers from the Internet as well. There are support groups for  quiting smoking, drug and alcohol, just a few to mention. Find something that helps you get through to the next step, then the next til you can  arrive at the change needed in your life.

*This next thought is and can be the reason WHY some people can and do not change. It is their surroundings. It very difficult to loose weight if you are flipping hamburgers and french fries,smelling deep fried grease all day, for some, temptations are too much. Your home environment, the food eaten and prepared, eating all the time, and watching others doing the same, takes that word courage to draw the line, if you want to loose weight. Also the fear hear of being criticized for your actions. Holding your own may influence changes in others.

 *Our influencefrom  failure becomes increasingly more frightening  as we get older, probably because we have had more of them. I do not WHY but we seem to put  the failures up higher up the ladder than our successes and we enjoy gossiping about the wrongs more than the goods. But to have failed you will have to lived…thus you must changed to haved failed or succeded. This means you will not succeed your change by merely reading this, you have to take action. Think of the rewards…A Healthy Life!

*I often wonderhow people will endure traumatic amount of suffering and pain, and still not make the changes. They have heard it from everybody, and when the conversation is leading that way, defense sets in and they frankly say” Don’t ask me”! Would you not think they have suffered enough. Several times I mentioned I am a fan of the TV show The Biggest Loser, how the contestant have suffered so much, and the trainers literallyhave to put into their heads, you have suffered enough. Time to get on with your life. Can not you see the path you are taking could shorten or end your life. Change has great rewards…A healthier life. Why wait!

Todays Health Comments

Todays changes will effect tomorrow outcome and only by denial of change or our acceptance to take the first steps will the impact on life make a difference. For those who except the facts in their lives, can anything be done. You must want to grab a hold and say I can do this, so I may have a better and healthier life. Time to face the facts…change is needed.
