Today’s Article  brings to your attention, the healthy need  for Juice. The title “Don’t forget the juice or you may not remember later”, may have some truth to it. However, those folks who have made some of those proclamations, must have forgot to drink their juice, since they have forgot to post any more information on their studies since 2006. Although dementia, may have captured the audience whom were to actually update us, the value of juice, must not be forgotten!

Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia, a general term for memory loss and other intellectual abilities serious enough to interfere with daily life. Alzheimer’s disease accounts for 50 to 70 percent of dementia cases. The Chief Executive of Alzheimer’s Society, Neil Hunt, said “That it is vital for people to lead a healthy lifestyle with balanced diet rich in antioxidants. The best way out is to exercise regularly, eat a balanced diet and monitor blood pressure and cholesterol levels regularly”.

Vegetable juice is basically a blend of vegetables and is often mixed with fruits such as tomatoes or grapes to improve flavor. It is often  drank  as a low-sugar alternative to fruit juice, but you may find   brands of vegetable juices filled large amounts of sodium.

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – Drinking fruit and vegetable juices frequently could help save of Alzheimer’s disease

in individuals at risk for developing the disease, research suggests.There is evidence from both lab and animal

studies that high levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) — harmful byproducts of normal metabolism — may be

involved in the development of Alzheimer’s disease.While vitamins and polyphenols contained in plant foods exert

antioxidant effects and thus blunt the action of ROS, certain ways of preparing these foods can deplete their nutrient

content. Juicing, however, can preserve much of the antioxidant content of fruits and vegetables.In their study,

Dr. Qui Dai of the Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and colleagues looked for links between fruit and

vegetable juice consumption and Alzheimer’s risk. They analyzed juice consumption in 1,836 Japanese-Americans

living in Washington State who had no dementia when the study began, in 1992-1994, and were followed until 2001.

They found that people who drank juices at least three times a week had one-quarter the risk of developing

dementia compared to those who consumed juice less than once a week. The effect was stronger in people carrying

an Alzheimer’s-associated gene variant and in those who were not physically active.The effects of antioxidant

vitamins alone aren’t enough to explain the findings, Dai and colleagues note, and further research is needed to

determine whether polyphenols might also have protective effects.More study is also needed to determine which

fruit and vegetable juices are most beneficial and how long they must be consumed, they add.

“These results may lead to a new avenue of inquiry in the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease,” the researchers

conclude.

Todays Health Comments

I have always enjoyed drinking juices, although I find they have become more sugar, and lot more Sodium than they used to be. The key here, though studies for what ever reason been forgotten, the need to drink the healthy  juices moderately, but do include them for their healthy aspects. If you have forgotten all that been written here, you may suffering from some form of memory loss.Consult with your doctor regarding these symptoms, as not all memory loss is Alzheimer’s disease.
