 February 14th, 2011           Happy Valentine’s Day

Today is  Saint Valentines Day, a day most know as Valentines Day. This is a day of I love Yous, celebrating love and affection between  love ones and or companions.  This tradition  reaches back to one of the Christian martyrs, whose name was Saint Valentine, and the day was established by the Pope Gelasius in 496Ad. It is a day which lovers express their love… straight from the heart, for one another by presenting  gifts of love or valentine cards. Could all this love and I love yous be healthy for your heart?

How Love Keeps You Healthy

Doesn’t it just make you feel good? Has anybody not wanted to be loved, well perhaps wrong question, for most of us love be loved and hearing I love yous. We except them gladly and in turn should throw them out to all that will listen. This sharing of the heart has some  scientists on the path to prove love gives  health benefits, too–beyond the obvious. They are zooming in how sex, kinship, and caring all seem to make us stronger. These health gains may range from quicker healing and better control over chronic illnesses, allowing us to living longer.

The Benefits of love

  • Last year from the University of Pittsburgh, a study  found that women in good marriages, have a much lower risk of cardiovascular disease than those in high-stress relationships.
  •  A Study, which has been tracking more than a million subjects since 1979, The National Longitudinal Mortality Study,  shows that married people live longer, have fewer heart attacks, lower cancer rates, and even get pneumonia less frequently than singles.
  • And a new study from the University of Iowa found that ovarian cancer patients with a strong sense of connection to others and satisfying relationships had more vigorous “natural killer” cell activity at the site of the tumor than those who didn’t have those social ties. (These desirable white blood cells kill cancerous cells as part of the body’s immune system.)

Dr. Robert Fanning, interventional cardiologist at Wheeling Hospital, has a few tips for couples looking to keep their hearts healthy. He suggests you and your loved one have your cholesterol checked “What you’re really saying is you don’t want your partner to have a heart attack,” he said. Enjoy the traditional aphrodisiacs consumed during the holiday.”Drink wine and eat chocolate and strawberries – they’re all healthy for you,” Fanning said.

 The I Love You’s

The learning  how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, may one day, be needed on a loved one.”What you’re saying is I want to keep you alive and I Love You.” You may want to start exercising together, this makes  for a healthy heart and body. It says I love you!
”Get hot and sweaty together – exercise helps you have better sex,” Fanning added. He further commented that sex can burn 300 calories in an hour! Some experts think it won’t be long before doctors prescribe steamy sex, romantic getaways, and caring communication in addition to low-cholesterol diets and plenty of rest. That sounds like ” I love You”…being prescribed,

The American Heart Association says high levels of cholesterol in the blood can cause heart disease and lead to heart attack. Daily moderate physical activity can reduce one’s risk of heart disease, according to the heart association.

Todays Health Comments

I love you’s to a healthy heart may be just what the doctor should suggest, perhaps there would be less stress, greater care of our hearts physically and emotionally. I feel I  have been blessed in that area, as I hear the I love You on a daily basis by my family. Thank You to them, I say here, Love is an amazing thing, and it health benefits are just beginning to be explored, My thoughts, “If less loved, give more”, soon you will feel the power of love, and your heart will be filled with joy!
