Today’s Health Article is all about Winning your Health Back…

But can you really do it. The odds may be against you. Perhaps that’s why the naughty foods are winning you over in the market place. Every day, every where you go, where you eat, or where you shop.

Perhaps I should put a definition to whats classified as naughty foods. Some would say there are no naughty foods if you eat in moderation, perhaps they are right. So if you eat one backyard greasy hamburger a year, its not going to make a difference, now if you are eating 2 Big Macs every day, that’s another story. So by example if you take a food that creates a health problem do to excessive amounts, then it could become your Naughty food.

Naughty foods seem to come in the fast food category much more frequently, the chips, candy bars, hamburgers, french fries, soda pop, and many more, because they easily consumed and quick to run with when you are on the go.

The marketing with vending machines ,recognized this, and fill their machines full of the naughty stuff. They then place them in strategic locations! Have you ever noticed how they always happened to be in places or businesses where you have to wait for periods of time or they know you are going to work up an appetite.

If you have had children attending various functions, like basketball games, or football games, even dance recitals, there seems always to be venders selling their hamburgers or hot dogs, what is a game with out those folks.

The last time I went to the gas station, thinking about this article, before me,there was the donuts, candy bars, snacks, right in my face. How do people resist? There were several shelves full of different temptations, by the check out stands, forcing ones eyes to stare upon them.

My last example is to look at a restaraunt menu’s and see the space that is dedicated to the Naughty Foods and you have to search or even have to ask if they even have something that is good for you ( Nice food). If they do not , do you walk out, or order anyway. Do not answer that one, for I already know what most folks do.

I personally believe that most people prefer the taste of naughty food over nice food, going down the hatch. We then mentally excuse oursevles for the unwritten crime we just committed to our body. Having not what it takes to fight off the temptations, no will power is needed to say no, shame on us, we are just giving in. You know you heard all the lines, you just could not resist, its just one time, I’ll do better tomorrow.

Unless we all find the way to our own personal strength to say no, the obesity epidemic that is becoming known to most, because we are part of it, will continue to have a dramatic impact on our lives.

Today’s Health Article

From the very day we are born, life journey takes on several changes in our health, that we must face.

Our health situation may change several times during our life, some folks have few changes while others may have many health problems. Some changes take on a lasting path, having medical conditions that will alter their way of life, perhaps their whole life.

Each and every day there after our infancy, we continual to be faced with the dependence of our environment, from the very air we breathe to the food we eat, to home we live in, to the love of family and friends, or the absence thereof. Perhaps these conditions leads us through the early years to be dependent on all who surrounds our particular set of changes. Perhaps few questions are seldom asked regarding the medical choices because of this dependent relationship.

So where is this all leading to, from the day we are breaking in our new teeth, we are taking common medicines to relieve the pain, then there is the headache when we get hit playing on the school yard, or the broken bones. Next in life, its the strain muscles, or over exertion from either the growing pains, or just over doing it. Then there is becoming an adult with a whole new ball game of changes from preventive measures, to birth control, to having a child, to maintaining a healthy body.

Obviously we go through a lot of changes in our life, and the real kicker of this article is that with all these changes we have become dependent on medicine to cure our aches and pains, our depressions, our addictions, cravings, and now even a longer sex life.

You have to ask yourself…Is your medical profession over prescribing medicines, as they are now being accused of, or are we as the public, demanding that we be treated for everything that comes along with a pill.

Is this leading to medical addiction? I find it so ironic that we, the public are demanding the availability of some of these medicines. If you listen to the long list of the side effects, why would you choose to use that medicine without consulting a professional. The commercials on TV now days prove this very point, they spend more air time disclosing the side effects than the commercial itself. The last question you have to ask “When is enough, enough”?

To maintain a healthier life, changes are going to be a part of it, aches and pains will always be there, and medicines will be as well. The real solution here is knowing when consultation, a trip to the Doctor’s office is needed and when not to. If unsure, seek professional advise before taking new medications. A balance can be maintained between the two. If you are taking medicine unnecessarily you may be endangering your life.

Today’s Health Article is presenting an Authors view point…

That perhaps through out our lives, we have been programmed or conditioned through out our lives, leading to our becoming obese. For those countries where food is plentiful and capital is ample, obesity is found to be the greatest, in underdeveloped counties food is little, starvation is great, obesity is not the normal. Therefor the conditions presented to our environment of the country we live in, the state we might live in, the city we live in, and the family we are born to, may be the beginning of our answers to our eating habits or having little or none to eat.

So I decided to look at my conditioning or was I being programmed. I grew up in a state known for its agriculture, the city nearby was known for logging and dairy farms. I grew up on a small dairy farm. My parents, were like most who lived in farming communities in the 50′s, virtually dependent on the food we raised, the produce they sold. I as child growing up, had known no hunger. In fact in our little community we knew of no one that was.

I am writing this for those who might relate to these set of conditions. Now, many would assumed that my parents were well off financially, that was not the case, but we were well off regarding food, for we worked hard and raised just about everything you would want to eat. We prepared, froze or canned foods in the summer months for the winter months. Something that has been forgotten in today’s age, where the super market or store has become the way of life.

Living on a Dairy Farm, we had plenty of milk, the real stuff with inch thick cream that rose to the top, homemade butter, real whipping cream for those deserts that was to die for. We generally ate a large breakfast. We had hot cereals in the winter, and cold in summer months, always large glass of milk, or fresh squeezed juice, toast with homemade jam, bacon or sausage, canned or fresh fruit. My mom seemed to love to cook and enjoyed enticing us with her new recipes. My dad was what they called a meat and potato’s man so most every meal those two foods were present at the table. We were very blessed that there is lots of variations of those two, though mashed potatoes with hamburger gravy was my favorite when I was young, and I still yield to occasionally. We had food that folks pay dearly for today, ours was all organic or farm raised, such as vegetables, we raised them all. We had a few fruit trees, but there was a old orchard behind our property that we would raid a long with the black bears. We always had supper after all the chores were done, well that was always late.8 or 9Pm or snack before started milking the cows. By this time you were hungry as horse, mom was cooking up here usual meal, that would fills us to the brim. My conditioning started here with the love for my homemade cookies, pies, and whipping cream. After our eating, do our personal chores and hit the bed about 11pm. as the morning started at 4:30 am.

Although my parents surely meant well to be great providers, some of the common eating lines at the kitchen table:

Eat up. your as skinny as a rail ( by the way I was)

You do not want to be skinny as a rail…perhaps love handles are more acceptable

Grandparents frequently commented as well… you need to put some meat on your bones

Please don’t go a away hungry

I am so full I am going to bust, can’t you eat anymore

Eat all that’s on your plate, desert is waiting

Do not let good food go to waste

If you take it, you must eat it

These conditions led to some of the answers for my self, no longer skinny as a rail , however have learned not to finish everything on my plate, not filling my self til I bust. I eat in moderation, and if I do not like it I do not eat it. I have become to live with the fact that all those delightful foods may taste good going down, but have undesirable results on the body.

No longer do I listen to those lines of conversation that lead to those undesirable effects. After all if our medical profession is giving up on us regarding our eating habits….then all we have left is our selves. I suggest you look back into your past, there are conditions there, leading to answers, if you do not understand how they are effecting your life, seek professional help, so you to can conqure or control your eating conditions.

Is the question pushy, invading our personal well being, or are we just being arrogant, and telling our Doctor to mind his own business. Otherwise we, the public, will deal with matter when we so choose to so. Is it just a topic, Obesity, that just rubs us the wrong way and we just can not deal with it today.

Yet Obesity, is explosively growing at Epidemic Rates. Can we personally get control of our eating habits before its too late? The statistics say otherwise. The facts are growing as we speak.

My Question to you… Should someone, anyone, or your Doctor tell you…

In the United States, it is estimated that 93 million Americans are obese.

Obese individuals are at a higher risk for impaired mobility.

Low-income minority populations tend to experience obesity at higher rate and are more likely to be overweight.

Almost 112,000 annual deaths are attributable to obesity.

In the United States, 40 percent of adults do not participate in any leisure-time physical activity.

African-American adults have the highest obesity rates — 37 percent among men and nearly 50 percent among women. For Hispanic women, the rate is 43 percent. Hispanic and black children have higher rates than non-Hispanic whites.

The media has been overloaded with facts… do we need our personal Doctor to hammer these facts into our head before we take some form of action. What is their medical responsibility to us as patients. I find from my own experience, is most people are herded through like cattle. so they might see all the patients, for their pertinent needs, leaving little time to address additional medical needs. Perhaps that not the case in the smaller towns or rural areas.

Perhaps Doctors are just giving up on us, admitting that only half of their obese patients have received advice, perhaps they feel its just a waste of their time. After all they probably take note from regular visits that their patients are continually getting heavier, and the patient has not taken any action or addressed any concerns about loosing some of those extra pounds.

Today, you have to take a little initiative, ask questions, seek your Doctors advise, and then put that info into practice. After all, it is your health and it is not going to happen by just pondering about it.

Mindset, what is it?

Mindset Definition | Definition of Mindset at Dictionary.com

(mīnd’sět’) n. A fixed mental attitude or disposition that predetermines a person’s responses to and interpretations of situations.
dictionary.reference.com/browse/mindset

Mindset may become a important aspect to the success or failure of a individuals diet, and ongoing health conditions. By reference to the definition, fixed mental attitude, attitude may have been developed by past conditions, elements, and many other successes or failures before ”THE DIET” is to be considered as part of your life. Otherwords, this individual may have the attitude, this task (dieting) that I am about to set before me, may be inturpted as just another task that I can be successful at or fail miserably, because of this fixed attitude.

This site might add additional light to this discussion.MindSet: A Book writen by Carol Dweck. Teaching a growth mindset …Mindsetis a simple idea discovered by world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck in decades of research on achievement mindsetonline.com/

Another example may be viewed on the TV show “The Biggest Looser”. I have followed this show since its beginning. Bob and Jillian, the trainers, their objectives, basically is to teach, train physically in the gym, motivate and be a support mechanism, and through all of this excitement, a lot of psychology comes between the trainers and the contestants..

Their mindset, their fixed mental attitude. is that they have a past life that just is not going to allow them to loose weight. While at the ranch, the revealing of each others past, the contestants, through layers of emotions and communications, see success through their eyes. Many have come to influence millions of veiewers that they to can move forward and loose weight. It is their mindset, set forth by each individual, that has predeterminrd each of their outcomes.

Check this guide made availailabe The advance guide to weight loss This allowed 2 contestant to become the biggest loosers.

Today’s health finds that having a strong mindset can lead to success or failure of the diet chosen, as well as the outcome of your health.

YOU must dig deep into your inner soul!

Deep into where you have been storing everything that has happened to you up til now, the conditions, circumstances, the failures, the emotions, your basic psychological make up, and all the analysis that goes along with our very being.

WE HUMANS ARE VERY COMPLICATED, and unless we come to understand ourselves, look at what makes us do the the things we do, dieting will not only not work for the long haul, but be only a short term fix or just the craziest thing ,we might think we can do.

During our life times, most all of us can associate, to those who just continue to struggle loosing weight, they seem to be on a different program every few weeks, seeking instant gratification, and when the results do not meet their expectations, they are on to the next. The frustrations continue to grow and grow til failure seems to be their conclusion. Now these same people are now just piling on the weight due , perhaps not realizing they have just condition themselves to a mindset, that may not be healthy at all.

Why is it that some folks do not need any counselling or a trainer, and immediately declare a mindset that they are going to change their eating habits, and exercise accordingly to their goals , and AL la they loose weight.

Some folks just have this ability, some may call it Will Power, Mind Control, or a determined Mindset Once this person makes a decision, it is like written in concrete and its here to stay. Unfortunately, those folks are not the ones that need help.

How can we acquire this same mindset…Today’s Health Article Coming.

Coming soon… Almost everyone knows that diets continue to flood our market place Every one provides testimonials of how fantastic the latest diet is going to save our world of obesity. The ads play on our emotions, and we continue to be led by those same emotions, that we can loose tremendous amounts of weight overnight. We see that such claims come and go. Why, because if just half of all the claims were substantially true, we would have no weight problem in this world.

Why this article than, it is not to criticize all those claims, because most who have tried all of them, know the truths, they just do not work for them.

Should we just throw up our hands…and quit!

Trehalose Sugar seems to be virtually unknown unless you are closely associated with the Sugar industry.

The product, Trehalose, it is pronounced trē’hu-lōs”.

TECHNICAL DATA

Trehalose, also known as mycose or tremalose, a natural alpha-linked disaccharide, synthesised by fungi, plants, and invertebrate animal, implicated in anhydrobiosis the ability of plants and animals to withstand prolonged periods of desiccation. It has high water retention capabilities and rehydration then allows normal cellular activity to be resumed without the major damage that normally follows a dehydration/rehydration cycle. Trehalose also has the added advantage of being an antioxidant.

In nature, trehalose can be found in animals, plants, and microorganisms. In animals, trehalose is prevalent in shrimp, and also in insects, including grasshoppers, locusts, butterflies, and bees, in which blood-sugar is trehalose. The trehalose is then broken down into glucose by the catabolic enzyme trehalase for use. Trehalose is also present in the nutrition exchange liquid of hornets and their larvae.

Production

Trehalose was previously being manufactured through an extraction process from cultured yeast. But production costs were prohibitive, and use was limited to only certain cosmetics and chemicals.

In 1994, Hayashibara, a saccharified starch maker in Okayama prefecture, Japan, discovered a method of inexpensively mass-producing trehalose from starch. The following year, Hayashibara started marketing trehalose by activating two enzymes, the glucosyltrehalose-producing enzyme that changes the reducing terminal of starch into a trehalose structure, and the trehalose free enzyme that detaches this trehalose structure. As a result, a high-purity trehalose from starch can be mass-produced for a very low price.

Uses

Since Trehalose has been accepted as a novel food ingredient under the GRAS terms in the U.S. and the EU….

Trehalose has also found commercial application as a food ingredient. It’s primary one being its use in the processing of foods.

Trehalose being used in a variety of processed foods such as dinners, western and Japanese confectionery, bread, vegetables side dishes, animal-derived deli foods, pouch-packed foods, frozen foods, and beverages, as well as foods for lunches, eating out, or prepared at home.

This is due to the multi-faceted effects of trehalose’s properties,  its inherently mild, sweet flavor; its preservative properties, which maintain the quality of the three main nutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, fats);

Its powerful water-retention properties, preserves the texture of foods by protecting them from drying out or freezing. Also its ability to suppress bitterness, stringency, harsh flavors, and the odor of raw foods, meats, and packaged foods.

Cosmetics: Capitalizing on trehalose’s moisture-retaining capacity, it is used as a moisturizer in many basic toiletries, such as bath oils and hair growth tonics.

Pharmaceuticals: Using trehalose’s properties to preserve tissue and protein to full advantage, it is used in organ protection solutions for organ transplants.

Other fields of use

Trehalose has a broad spectrum including fabrics, that have deodorization qualities, plant activation, antibacterial sheets, and nutrients for larvae.

Research is bein g conducted, especially in the field of medicine, to achieve uses for trehalose in post-surgery adhesion suppressants, dry-eye treatments and the manufacturing of dry blood.

It is rumored in the biomedical research community that trehalose, when eaten over a length of time in sufficient quantities, may sometimes provide a partial cure to Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. A lot of research into brain-based illness has focused on proteins in the human brain, but it may be important in research to look at sugars that the brain uses, such as trehalose.
