Today’s Health Article is all about Winning your Health Back…

But can you really do it. The odds may be against you. Perhaps that’s why the naughty foods are winning you over in the market place. Every day, every where you go, where you eat, or where you shop.

Perhaps I should put a definition to whats classified as naughty foods. Some would say there are no naughty foods if you eat in moderation, perhaps they are right. So if you eat one backyard greasy hamburger a year, its not going to make a difference, now if you are eating 2 Big Macs every day, that’s another story. So by example if you take a food that creates a health problem do to excessive amounts, then it could become your Naughty food.

Naughty foods seem to come in the fast food category much more frequently, the chips, candy bars, hamburgers, french fries, soda pop, and many more, because they easily consumed and quick to run with when you are on the go.

The marketing with vending machines ,recognized this, and fill their machines full of the naughty stuff. They then place them in strategic locations! Have you ever noticed how they always happened to be in places or businesses where you have to wait for periods of time or they know you are going to work up an appetite.

If you have had children attending various functions, like basketball games, or football games, even dance recitals, there seems always to be venders selling their hamburgers or hot dogs, what is a game with out those folks.

The last time I went to the gas station, thinking about this article, before me,there was the donuts, candy bars, snacks, right in my face. How do people resist? There were several shelves full of different temptations, by the check out stands, forcing ones eyes to stare upon them.

My last example is to look at a restaraunt menu’s and see the space that is dedicated to the Naughty Foods and you have to search or even have to ask if they even have something that is good for you ( Nice food). If they do not , do you walk out, or order anyway. Do not answer that one, for I already know what most folks do.

I personally believe that most people prefer the taste of naughty food over nice food, going down the hatch. We then mentally excuse oursevles for the unwritten crime we just committed to our body. Having not what it takes to fight off the temptations, no will power is needed to say no, shame on us, we are just giving in. You know you heard all the lines, you just could not resist, its just one time, I’ll do better tomorrow.

Unless we all find the way to our own personal strength to say no, the obesity epidemic that is becoming known to most, because we are part of it, will continue to have a dramatic impact on our lives.

Today’s Health Article is presenting an Authors view point…

That perhaps through out our lives, we have been programmed or conditioned through out our lives, leading to our becoming obese. For those countries where food is plentiful and capital is ample, obesity is found to be the greatest, in underdeveloped counties food is little, starvation is great, obesity is not the normal. Therefor the conditions presented to our environment of the country we live in, the state we might live in, the city we live in, and the family we are born to, may be the beginning of our answers to our eating habits or having little or none to eat.

So I decided to look at my conditioning or was I being programmed. I grew up in a state known for its agriculture, the city nearby was known for logging and dairy farms. I grew up on a small dairy farm. My parents, were like most who lived in farming communities in the 50′s, virtually dependent on the food we raised, the produce they sold. I as child growing up, had known no hunger. In fact in our little community we knew of no one that was.

I am writing this for those who might relate to these set of conditions. Now, many would assumed that my parents were well off financially, that was not the case, but we were well off regarding food, for we worked hard and raised just about everything you would want to eat. We prepared, froze or canned foods in the summer months for the winter months. Something that has been forgotten in today’s age, where the super market or store has become the way of life.

Living on a Dairy Farm, we had plenty of milk, the real stuff with inch thick cream that rose to the top, homemade butter, real whipping cream for those deserts that was to die for. We generally ate a large breakfast. We had hot cereals in the winter, and cold in summer months, always large glass of milk, or fresh squeezed juice, toast with homemade jam, bacon or sausage, canned or fresh fruit. My mom seemed to love to cook and enjoyed enticing us with her new recipes. My dad was what they called a meat and potato’s man so most every meal those two foods were present at the table. We were very blessed that there is lots of variations of those two, though mashed potatoes with hamburger gravy was my favorite when I was young, and I still yield to occasionally. We had food that folks pay dearly for today, ours was all organic or farm raised, such as vegetables, we raised them all. We had a few fruit trees, but there was a old orchard behind our property that we would raid a long with the black bears. We always had supper after all the chores were done, well that was always late.8 or 9Pm or snack before started milking the cows. By this time you were hungry as horse, mom was cooking up here usual meal, that would fills us to the brim. My conditioning started here with the love for my homemade cookies, pies, and whipping cream. After our eating, do our personal chores and hit the bed about 11pm. as the morning started at 4:30 am.

Although my parents surely meant well to be great providers, some of the common eating lines at the kitchen table:

Eat up. your as skinny as a rail ( by the way I was)

You do not want to be skinny as a rail…perhaps love handles are more acceptable

Grandparents frequently commented as well… you need to put some meat on your bones

Please don’t go a away hungry

I am so full I am going to bust, can’t you eat anymore

Eat all that’s on your plate, desert is waiting

Do not let good food go to waste

If you take it, you must eat it

These conditions led to some of the answers for my self, no longer skinny as a rail , however have learned not to finish everything on my plate, not filling my self til I bust. I eat in moderation, and if I do not like it I do not eat it. I have become to live with the fact that all those delightful foods may taste good going down, but have undesirable results on the body.

No longer do I listen to those lines of conversation that lead to those undesirable effects. After all if our medical profession is giving up on us regarding our eating habits….then all we have left is our selves. I suggest you look back into your past, there are conditions there, leading to answers, if you do not understand how they are effecting your life, seek professional help, so you to can conqure or control your eating conditions.

Is the question pushy, invading our personal well being, or are we just being arrogant, and telling our Doctor to mind his own business. Otherwise we, the public, will deal with matter when we so choose to so. Is it just a topic, Obesity, that just rubs us the wrong way and we just can not deal with it today.

Yet Obesity, is explosively growing at Epidemic Rates. Can we personally get control of our eating habits before its too late? The statistics say otherwise. The facts are growing as we speak.

My Question to you… Should someone, anyone, or your Doctor tell you…

In the United States, it is estimated that 93 million Americans are obese.

Obese individuals are at a higher risk for impaired mobility.

Low-income minority populations tend to experience obesity at higher rate and are more likely to be overweight.

Almost 112,000 annual deaths are attributable to obesity.

In the United States, 40 percent of adults do not participate in any leisure-time physical activity.

African-American adults have the highest obesity rates — 37 percent among men and nearly 50 percent among women. For Hispanic women, the rate is 43 percent. Hispanic and black children have higher rates than non-Hispanic whites.

The media has been overloaded with facts… do we need our personal Doctor to hammer these facts into our head before we take some form of action. What is their medical responsibility to us as patients. I find from my own experience, is most people are herded through like cattle. so they might see all the patients, for their pertinent needs, leaving little time to address additional medical needs. Perhaps that not the case in the smaller towns or rural areas.

Perhaps Doctors are just giving up on us, admitting that only half of their obese patients have received advice, perhaps they feel its just a waste of their time. After all they probably take note from regular visits that their patients are continually getting heavier, and the patient has not taken any action or addressed any concerns about loosing some of those extra pounds.

Today, you have to take a little initiative, ask questions, seek your Doctors advise, and then put that info into practice. After all, it is your health and it is not going to happen by just pondering about it.

Everywhere you turn, thru someone, a magazine, TV, or the many other media these days, you are bound to be exposed with the same old story: The startling and ever-growing worldwide problem of obesity.

WHY?

The fact is… More and more people are unhealthily overweight! “It is to the very point where eating can and is actually endangering our lives.”

There has always been some individuals that have eaten unhealthily, mainly because, “Naughty Foods Taste So Good”! Now the population as a whole, considering how we eat these days, are we are getting the right amounts of nutrients.

Is it our conscious thought about what we put into our bodies … essential?

Why another article on a subject that everybody claims to know but doesn’t want to listen! The answer is, if this just reaches just one persons conscious thought and results in taking action , than it was all worth it.

Perhaps before our intake of all those naughty foods, which are loaded with all those calories and sugars, you know the ones I am talking about, the ones some people would die for (literally), a bell would go off in our heads, saying “What I am about to eat is hazardous to my health”!

For some people, warning labels…are just another part of the lable or the fine print that doesn’ t get read anyway, let alone it’s grams of sugar or it’s calorie count. Our consensus is most people eat by what may make them feel good, or by how sweet it is, or how good it taste going down, or just how much I can eat, based on my emotion at the time.

If some one has come up as to why obesity is becoming a major concern…is because food is readily available in most countries, unlike the underdeveloped countries where many face starvation. Those countries who proclaim to live in the land of plenty…eat with same mentality…plenty.

As we get older, our metabolism slows down and we can no longer burn calories at the same rate as we used to. Fact, it makes it easier for us to put on weight but harder for us to shed it. Having said that, our elderly group face the greatest effect of being over weight. Being overweight can put unnecessary stress on the joints and thus accelerate the affects of arthritis, osteoporosis and other bone and muscle disorders and illnesses. It can also bring about the onset of diabetes, which is more common in seniors than in any other age group as it is.

While a little of what he or she loves to eat, no matter how unhealthy it may be, a regular balanced nutritious diet is just what the doctor orders!

A well balanced diet can boost your health, but a poor diet that does not fulfil all bodily nutritional requirements can actually cause it to deteriorate.

All should enjoy life to the fullest extent, but eating healthily on a regular basis can actively extend the amount of time you have left to enjoy it! Make the most of life. Revolutionize your diet and reap the rewards
