Today’s Health Article

Sept 17th, 2011

Today, just a normal day. We may some of us may be found working out the gym, doing the yard work, exercising, working hard, or any other physical exercise that heats up our body. We just may live in a climate that just is hot! Whether it be from exertion physical or just hot, our body senses that we are warming up and needs to cool down. From and during this process sweat normally occurs.

Sweat

Now Sweating is today’s release of a salty liquid from the body’s sweat glands. Some folks call this perspiring and is titled perspiration. We most of the time just understand that it is just how our body cools off, and most of the time know we feel we have no control over it’s presence. Sweat is normally found under the arms, on the feet, and on the palms of the hands and other parts of the body as well.

Just how much you sweat depends on just how many sweat glands you may have been born with. A person can be born with two to four million sweat glands. These Sweat glands usually become fully active during our puberty. Although women today, have more sweat glands then men, men’s glands are found to be more active.

Sweating is controlled by the autonomic nervous system. This system is part of the nervous system that is not under our control. Taking that in mind, this is why understanding the Sweats today may be important tomorrow.

Cold Sweats

A cold sweat is something that some people deal with on a regular basis. Unlike the sweat when exposed to heat or exertion, a cold sweat, people find that their skin starts feeling very cold.

The main areas that a cold sweat affects are the feet, hands as well as the underarms and palms. That being said, cold sweats are extremely uncomfortable and most people don’t want to have to deal with them.

One of the most dangerous… Cold Sweat Symptoms is actually life-threatening for those people who are having or about to have a heart attack. Also those who experience or go through shock or have suffered a terrible injury will sometimes feel a cold sweat coming on. This is the body’s natural reaction to do so. When this does happen, it’s very important for those people to make sure that they get to a hospital, as fast as possible.

Other Cold Sweats may not be as serious as a heart attack or other life-threatening situations, but if you have not experience these before, cold sweats certainly need to be understood. Today for example, you can experience a cold sweat because the body has low blood oxygen levels and understand why. Perhaps if a person has low blood pressure or if a person has low blood sugar, cold sweats may also occur. Although low blood-oxygen level, low blood pressure or low blood sugar are not considered life-threatening, however, they will impact your health, and if medical attention is not given, may get worse over time.

Hot Sweats

There are people all over the world that have suffered from Hot Sweats. The most popular being recognized by or caused from menopause. These hot sweats also known as “Hot Flashes” which mainly occur at night. This is very common in women that are going through menopausal transition. Today these Hot Flashes are a normal response to the hormonal changes in the body and usually go away after the first or second year following menopause. There are treatments available to either reduce or stop moderate hot sweats.

When people think about Hot Sweats, they usually associate this with women. Men can suffer from night sweats too and there are several reasons this could be happening. Some people believe that men go through male menopause that causes them to have these symptoms. There are some serious conditions that could be causing …

Male hot flashes such as,

HIV or AIDS,

heart condition with high cholesterol,

arthritis,

stroke,

It is best to get a diagnosis from the doctor to rule out anything serious.

Taking certain medication

They can also cause Hot Sweats with the most common being cause from antidepressants. Medicines to lower fever such as aspirin has been known to cause hot sweats as well. People who take insulin or oral medication for their blood sugar find themselves suffering from these symptoms too. Usually night sweats are not a serious thing but if you suffer from fevers or any other troubling symptoms, it may be best to check with your health care provider to rule out any kind of serious medical problems.

Hot Sweats can also be caused by a more serious disease such as cancer. Your doctor will more than likely give you an exam that will include blood work to determine why you are suffering these symptoms. Make sure you evaluate your sleeping environment before contacting a doctor. Make sure you don’t have too many blankets, the thermostat is not too high, or sleep in lighter clothing. After all this, you find things are not getting any better, it is time to call the doctor to determine what is causing your hot sweats.

Today’s Health Comments

Today it is important to understand that sweating may just our natural means of cooling off, or it could be signs of serious matters. I have had never really understood why cold sweats and I have taken a liking to each other. When I am about to get sick or a cold, instead of a high fever, mine goes the other way. Since understanding these symptoms I can load up on the chicken soup and fluids. Sometimes sweats are your warning, and we need to listen to our body signs, and seek professional help when needed.

Today’s Article…

Touches on a common topic, which can become serious and perhaps deadly, if you do not understand the symptoms and act immediately.

Summer can certainly be one of the most enjoyable times of the year. The memories, growing up on the farm, putting up the hay, milking cows, and a long list of outdoor activities which required hard work, in the heat of the summer. I can remember that, sooner or later, Summer would always get around to turning up the heat. We would always take note, for those hot summer days, the need for putting up the hay, so it would not get rain on or harvesting our grain. We always seem to be working in the middle of a heat wave, at least a couple of times throughout the summer. Yet, our family, seemed to enjoy those days.

Now this article, Too HOT, I am NOT sounds personal… and it is. I have never really been affected by the heat like others in my family. They would always comment…”TOO Hot”. I would say, “I am not”!

Now the real issue is… or the health problem being presented, is the lack of understanding or the confusion seems to be in what your body is trying to tell you. My father was enjoying a day in their swimming pool, one hot hot summer day in the Mohave Desert, where my folks moved to, to get away from the cold. Now the average day there, you could fry a egg on the sidewalk. No kidding its hot. It was Mom’s Birthday, and she called me, I was thinking, I had’nt got to her yet, to learn my Dad, had a sunstroke. Hours later the Summer Sun took my father that day from my family.

Now that was 32 years ago and I still remember how quickly and speechless I was… a SUNSTROKE !

Today’s article is all about… SUNSTROKES

Now not knowing the symptoms of a Sunstroke, thinking that he over exerted himself in the swimming pool, made a wrong decision, and 2hrs later was pronounced dead. It did not have to be, and at the age 47, I found this to be very alarming.

Understanding your body signals, you and I, can be very differently, but too much heat, can be too much for any one. As we get older we stand to take on even greater risks, usually because of other health problems, medicines that we are now taking or even due to being over weight. Also, young infants need to be carefully watched, as they are sometimes overlooked for these symptoms.

You have to understand, your body can only handle a certain amount of heat. Your brain being the thermostat, sends and receives signals to and from parts of your body that affects temperature. It is like a built in monitor, taking readings from your spinal cord, muscles, blood vessels, your skin and other substances known as hormones. When it senses a elevation of heat, sweating is the reaction. The cooling the body feels, is when this sweat dries by evaporation, and your body temperature goes down.

A Heat stroke is a form of hypothermia, an abnormally elevated body temperature with accompanying physical and neurological symptoms. Also, in the case of my father..

Upcoming Facts you have got to KNOW ABOUT SUNSTROKES!

              “STRESS”… is singled out!

How we manage stress …

I think most people would agree with that statement but then others may say that stress has been blamed for just about everything, when things do not go right. So today’s health article might raise some attention. I am getting stressed just covering this article.

So lets examine: Why is stress a problem!

One of our more recent articles The Ph Miracle Diet suggested that by examining every food, beverage, supplement, and additives, it`s acidic or alkaline balance can be negotiated.

Now for those who are not familiar, Our bodies work according to this pH scale, a scale of 1 to 14, the 1 is an indication of a high level of acid ranking , while the 14 indicates a high amount of alkaline present.

Our bloodstream operate at the level of 7.35, which is slightly alkaline. The pH miracle diet promotes keeping the intake of your food, in line with this desired level. The idea or concept is quite simple, by coordinating eating, which is designed around a large list of foods and supplements, you can create an effective plan to lowering acidity in your body.

This health plan can be managed by monitoring your body’s pH levels by using the Saliva pH test strips. The strips have a base range of 4.5 to 8.5, allowing, for accurate readings that may assist you in making the necessary adjustments to your diet.

Now with all of this information, welcome to , the outside influences, they will affect your body`s acid production.

The most significant of these external factors is STRESS

Stress has several definitions, according to the dictionary, here we are relating to how it affects us health wise, mentally or emotionally. It is everywhere and it affects everyone. It is, stress will continue to be a every where problem, thus having a very traumatic effect on your body. Our body works overtime to combat stress, in turn creates more stress. This endless cycle is initiated by an increase in acid production.

With acid being a detriment to your body, it does not operate well on a cellular level. Why is that? Here are some facts from leading resourses:

2/3′s of all office visits to family physicians are due to stress-related symptoms. —- American Academy of Family Physicians

NOW… We’re not talking about the people who, after a good workout, sweat a lot!

The people whom we are discussing today, are those who have a need for a towel while sitting in an air conditioned room. There they set, like they had just won a marathon, and had a bucket of gaterade poured over them, soaked through and through! Not just adults, but teenagers who are avoiding public appearances, such as going to dances, parties, or dates, feared like a plague, to be seen in their dripping.

Now when it comes to you and your excessive sweating, you may be asking this question.

WHY Do I Sweat So Much?

If you are suffering from “excessive sweating,” the medical term for excessive sweating is Hyperhidrosis.

IF YOU HAVE ASKED THIS QUESTION OF YOURSELF…

Than this article may have some answers to your questions and believe it or not, some solutions!

Have ever felt embarrassed from excessive sweating and those remarks, you are not alone!

Today approximately 8 million people suffer from it, just in this country alone and are trying to find a way to treat their excessive sweating.

It very important to make a list your symptoms. You should also examine the other variables that may lead to you to your over sweating.

Here are some ways you may help yourself to prevent your body from “pouring out” too much!
They may or may not work for you, but here they are:
*Avoid synthetic fabrics for your clothes. Synthetic fabrics prevent your body from regulating heat
*Choose natural fabrics such as cotton.
*Everyday, shower and change into clean and fresh clothes
*Foods that can promote sweating, such as spices, too much alcohol, and caffeine, try to avoid.
*Drink lots of water. Yes, logic tells you this. If you drink plenty of water, you are giving your body
the ability to cool down easier.

People who have hyperhidrosis tend to have histories which may include many of these conditions also:
* Primarily excessive sweating affects the palms of hands and soles of feet
* Excessive sweating started sometime before the person is 20 years old
* Family members may have hyperhidrosis, but not always.
* Social embarrassment and isolation can occur from “Sweating Problems”.

The Diagnosis of Hyperhidrosis can include the following exams and procedures.

Hyperhidrosis exams so if there is usually a clamminess and dripping of sweat affecting the palms and soles, which stops just above the wrists/ankles, these people are usually not overly anxious and the physical examination (including vital signs and neurology exam) is normal.

Blood and Urine Tests, With the medical history, and an exam, the selected blood tests are completed, to rule out hyperthyroidism, diabetes, acromegaly and pheochromocytoma. Thermoregulatory Sweat Test. CONSULT YOUR REGULAR DOCTOR FOR AN EXPLANATION!

Some clinics may also document the distribution of the excessive sweating via the Thermoregulatory Sweat Test.

The above exams help direct physicians to accurately diagnose the individual for hyperhidrosis and can
define the severity of the sweating problem.

The above information was to help give an understanding of excessive sweating and some tips, or suggestions how you may have better control of your life’s health today.
